Your journey begins in Taupo, where you can either shuttle or fly to the renowned Poronui Station. There, your private helicopter awaits to take you on a breathtaking scenic flight over the central North Island. Your flight path reveals significant cultural landmarks and offers insight into the lands and stories of Ngati Tuwharetoa.
Arrive in the wild for a culinary experience like no other
Touch down on the edge of the majestic Kaimanawa Ranges, at an elevation of 1,100 metres where you’ll be greeted with a traditional mihi (welcome) by your host, who will introduce you to what promises to be a luncheon like no other.
This is New Zealand’s only cooking experience of its kind - fast food, through the lens of Te Ao Maori (The Maori World). You’ll be invited to take part in preparing an open fire feast. All food will be cooked over an open fire, either over the embers or dramatically seared on hot rocks, hot smoked, parcelled in leaves and baked in the embers, skewered or steamed, all methods that we know and use today but are a key part of Te Ao Maori. Every method connects you to the rhythms of the land and ancestral knowledge passed down through generations.
