A unique culinary experience - a journey into the history Enjoy a magnificent Hangi feast (Ha – the breath of warm air and ngi – pressure), using traditional Māori gathering techniques and cooking methods. Cooked over a real fire on a purpose built podium, underneath the stars. You are surrounded by carved Māori Atua (gods), the children of Rangi the sky father and Papatuanuku the earth mother. You can participate in the traditional sharing experience of the food preparation and cooking of the Hakari (feast). Alternatively just sit back, relax with a drink and leave the work to Tom who is an expert hunter, gatherer and professional chef.Story telling and Māori legends are a big part of the experience and are guaranteed to make the hairs stand up on the back of your neck as you sit around an open fire, in this vast and beautiful wilderness.
